Dominica "Minnie" Murphy, nee Parisi, 91, lifelong resident of Chicago, passed away April 24, 2020. Beloved wife of the late Francis, who was surely waiting for his lovely wife at the gates of heaven to celebrate what would have been their 66th anniversary on April 24th; loving mother of Mike (Eileen), Carolyn, Frank, Dan, Kathy, Tom, Jim and Bill; cherished grandmother of Nicole (Tony) Layman, Michael Murphy (Allison Vlinica), Victoria (Tony) Raspante and Anthony Murphy; proud great grandmother of Jake, Katie, Abby, Frankie, Sam, Michael, Joey, Ben and Sean; dearest sister of the late Marie Henriksen and Carmella and Theresa Parisi; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Minnie was an excellent cook and loved to be in the kitchen. While her culinary creations were enjoyed by everyone, she was most proud of her spaghetti sauce and lasagna. Minnie’s unwavering devotion to Padre Pio and the Blessed Mother gave her great comfort. She was an extremely spiritual person and regardless of the challenge she or those she loved faced, Minnie would pick up her rosary and also prayed many novenas. Minnie had an upbeat disposition with a deep and contagious laughter that came easily. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and gave of herself fully, always putting her family before self. Minnie was a kind and loving woman who was passionate about her family and deeply loved by all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed and never forgotten.
Service and interment at St. Mary Cemetery private. A Memorial Mass will be arranged when it is safe to gather post-pandemic.
