Mile "Mike" Perkovic

Beloved husband of Ruza (nee Belan); loving father of Mark, John (Valerie), and Maria (Philip) Perkovic; devoted son of the late Ivan and Marija Perkovic; cherished grandfather of Mila Perkovic, Marlena Perkovic, Ava Perkovic, Katherine Perkovic, Luka Perkovic, Sanja Leers, and Neven Leers; dear brother of Zlata (Jure) Sajkovic and the late Katherine (Joseph) Drazenovic; fond uncle of the late Anthony Drazenovic, the late John Drazenovic, Michael “Ljubo” (Ann Marie) Drazenovic, Snjezana “Mary” Bahl, and Tomislav Sajkovic.

He was a proud member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 399 and dedicated 44 years of service as a stationary engineer. He was a longtime resident of Hyde Park in Chicago.

Born in Stajnica, Croatia, he emigrated to Chicago in 1969 and later welcomed his beloved wife, Ruza, to the city. Together, they established their home and raised their family. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to his Croatian heritage. He was a passionate and beloved member of Chicago’s Croatian community and devoted over two decades of volunteer service to the Croatian American Radio Club, where he served as a radio program host and, most recently, as president.

He will be remembered for his lively spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and deep love for his family, friends, and community. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25th, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at St. Jerome Croatian Catholic Church, 2823 S. Princeton Ave., Chicago. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow. Interment Private.
