Monica Alcántar, lovingly known as Mo-Mo, had many meaningful roles in a life that was equally blessed and impactful. She was a doting daughter who was always there to offer a gentle and supportive arm to both her Mamá and Papá, while also ensuring that their healthcare needs were thoughtfully attended to. She was a caring sister, always serving as a right hand to any sibling in need. She was a sweet and loving aunt who shared the biggest of smiles and the warmest of laughs with her many nieces and nephews. She was a guiding godmother who showed by example how to live an honest life with steadfast values. She was a cherished niece and a considerate cousin who greeted all with a warm embrace, a glowing smile, and an eager willingness to tend to their medical concerns. She was a loyal and hard-working employee in the pharmacy department at Walgreens for more than two decades, a position in which she was treasured for her relationships with both colleagues and patients. She was an attentive and playful babysitter who helped raise a generation of happy and productive children. As in the beautiful words of one of her co-workers, “Monica had Jesus in her.” She blessed all our lives with her radiance and peace. And though we will tremendously miss our Monita and all the roles she faithfully fulfilled, we must remember to keep her joyful and loving presence alive in our hearts forever.
