Rafael Solis, age 80, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2026, surrounded by his family. Beloved Husband of 50 years to Laura Solis. Devoted Father to his son Adrian (Dolores) and his late daughter  Erendira .  Proud Grandfather to Oscar, Melina, Lucio, Lorenzo, Sebastian and Erendira.  Cherished Brother to Veronica, Jose Luis, Guadalupe, Irma, Graciela, Gabriel, Gloria, Teresa, Patricia and Angelina. Loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Rafael is preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Maria Guadalupe Solis, his brother Salvador and his daughter Erendira . 

Rafael was a proud U.S. Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War. His dedication to his family never wavered, and he carried that same love and strength throughout his life. Born in Mexico, he spent most of his life in Bridgeport and as a business partner became a common staple at Tacos Erendira, which operated for over 50 years in the area. He was known for his kind smile and formed many friendships over the years.

A devoted Catholic throughout his life, Rafael was known for his generosity and charitable spirit, always extending a helping hand to those less fortunate. Rafael was a kind, caring and loving individual and those fonds moments leave a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rafael’s life was a testament to compassion and resilience. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.

 

Rafael Solis, de 80 años, de Chicago, Illinois, falleció tranquilamente el Sábado 3 de enero de 2026, rodeado de su familia. Amado Esposo durante 50 años de Laura Solis. Padre devoto de su hijo Adrian (Lola) y de su difunta hija Erendira      . Orgulloso Abuelo de Oscar, Melina, Lucio, Lorenzo, Sebastian y Erendira. Querido Hermano de Veronica, Jose Luis, Guadalupe, Irma, Graciela, Gabriel, Gloria, Teresa, Patricia y Angelina. Tío cariñoso de muchos sobrinos y sobrinas. A Rafael le precedieron en la muerte sus padres, Salvador y Maria Guadalupe Solis, su hermano Salvador y su hija Erendira    .

Rafael fue un orgulloso veterano del Ejército de los Estados Unidos que sirvió a su país durante la Guerra de Vietnam. Su dedicación a su familia nunca flaqueó, y mantuvo ese mismo amor y fortaleza a lo largo de toda su vida. Nacido en México, pasó la mayor parte de su vida en Bridgeport y, como socio comercial, se convirtió en una figura habitual en Tacos Erendira, un restaurante que funcionó durante más de 50 años en la zona. Era conocido por su amable sonrisa y formo muchas amistades a lo largo de los años.

Rafael, Católico devoto durante toda su vida, era conocido por su generosidad y espíritu caritativo, siempre dispuesto a ayudar a los más necesitados. Era una persona amable, atenta y cariñosa, y esos gratos momentos dejan una huella imborrable en todos los que tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

La vida de Rafael fue un ejemplo de compasión y resiliencia. Que su recuerdo brinde consuelo a quienes lo conocieron y lo amaron.
