Rong Yang Tan Obituary

Rong Yang Tan, 90, of Chicago, born in Guangdong, China, passed away April 10, 2020; beloved husband of Xing Ping Tan; loving father of Kelly (Andrew) Toy, Yu Ming (Yu Juan Wen) Tan, Ri Zhong (Ling Yee Yau) Tan and Jennifer (Vincent) Soung; cherished grandfather of Jonathan Toy, Joshua Toy, Samantha Soung, Candace Tan, Ethan Soung, Clement Tan; preceded in death by 9 siblings; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tan immigrated to the United States in July of 1986 for the benefit of his family.  He lost his parents at a young age and his older siblings helped to raise him.  Mr. Tan was a man of great character and a well respected Community Leader in China.  Mr. Tan was also an extremely successful entrepreneur in China with the ownership of a restaurant. After leaving his successes behind in China, Mr. Tan's strength and determination brought him continued success in his career as a cook in the United States.  He was very proud to support his family for a better life.

A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Michael Coletta Sons Funeral Home and Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
