Salvador "Sal" Navarro Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Salvador "Sal" H. Navarro, who passed away on August 9, 2026, at the age of 77, in Chicago, Illinois.

Sal was born on October 23, 1948, in Stockton, California, to Sara Aceves Navarro and Arturo Navarro. He was raised in Chicago, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong connection to his community. He often joked that he graduated from the "School of Hard Knocks," a reflection of the resilience, determination, and life experience that shaped the man he became.

Sal went on to become a successful entrepreneur in Chicago's Fulton Market meatpacking district, where he was known for his hard work, dedication, and perseverance. He took great pride in everything he built and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. Later in life, he became a restaurateur, partnering with his children to open Cuatro in Chicago's South Loop.

Beyond his career, Sal found his greatest joy in spending time with his family, cooking, racing cars, and collecting guns. He will be remembered for his kindness, his passion for life, his unwavering determination, and the deep love and devotion he had for his family. His generosity, humor, and larger-than-life spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Sal is survived by his beloved wife, Lisa; his children, Meegan (Tom), Matt, Sara, and Josh (Michelle); his grandchildren, Jeremy, Timothy, Iliana, Isaiah, Zion, Elysiah, Syvanna, and Emilia; his sister, Berta; his nephew, Ricardo; his niece, Elizabeth; and his great-grandchildren, Mason, Lamar Jr., Josiah, Ezekiel, Isabella, and Eden.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sara Aceves Navarro.

Visitation will be held on August 26, 2026, with public visitation from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at 544 W. 31st Street, Chicago, Illinois 60616. A service officiated by Deacon Glenn Tylutki of the Archdiocese of Chicago will begin at 6:00 p.m. Interment Private.

Sal will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. Though he is no longer with us, his memory, stories, and spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. And whenever someone says "Fuhgeddaboudit," those who knew Sal will undoubtedly think of him and smile.
