Sonia M (Rak) Worth

Sonia Worth Obituary

Sonia arrived in the U.S. and St. Jerome Croatian Church in 1951. Her funeral services will be held there 72 years later. She lived in Bridgeport all her life and was proud of her Croatian heritage. She served in the Chicago Police Department for 25 years, 12 th District, and was honored to have been in the first group of women selected to serve in the Patrol unit. She later served as a Federal Court Security Officer in the 7 th Circuit. Sonia loved to travel, garden and make cheese cakes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Mile and Helen Rak, her son, Joe Worth, and brothers, John and Ante Rak. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Agnes and George Ebbs and their children George and Ali. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 14, at St. Jerome Croatian Church 2823 S. Princeton Ave., Chicago from 9:00 A.M. until Mass at10:00 A.M. Interment Private. A luncheon celebrating Sonia’s life will follow the service. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation.
