Stephen Lascody Jr. Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Stephen Lascody Jr., beloved husband of Christine (nee Vargas), on May 8, 2025, at the age of 80. A dedicated and devoted family man, Stephen’s love, support, and presence spanned generations, and he was always there for those who needed him.

Stephen was the loving father of Kristina (Justin), Scott (Karen), Michelle (Anthony) Ciaravino, Ashley (Apolonia) Vargas, and Christian (Carmen) Vargas. Cherished Papa to Rebecca, Scott Jr. and Amanda Lascody, Anthony, Angelo and Mariella Ciaravino, Santino and Francesca Vargas, Great-grandfather to Aiden, Dylan, and Bryson. Godfather (Bino) to Sugie, Brianna, Kristina, Nicholas and Amber, brother-in-law, uncle, and filled in for countless roles as a male figure to many. Steve was a brother to Carol, and preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Jenny, and siblings, George and Diane. He was an Army Veteran, who served his country with pride and dedication. After his military service, he went on to serve the city of Chicago as a Policeman for 35 years.

Steve was a devoted and loving husband of 56 blessed years. His love for his wife Christine was one to emulate. He loved hard and never held back, he did everything with a full heart. He was a steadfast and present figure in his family’s life, always ready with a word of encouragement and a sprinkle

of humor.

In his early years, Steve was an avid supporter / coach of his children’s sports teams which later led to nieces and nephews, coaching and assisting in their sports endeavors for many years. His love for the game was matched only by his enthusiasm for watching his grandchildren play and being their biggest fan, he will be truly missed in the stands.

He was a member of I.C.’s Mens club for many years, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of friends and the joy of entertaining others through song and laughter.  Some of his most enjoyable times were preparing for and hosting the Annual Men’s Club variety shows alongside and with the help of his brother-in-law, family members and friends.

Steve was known for his loving and supportive nature, and being a father figure, papa figure and male role model to many. This role was apparent with his Niece Kim and children Loren, Kristina and Kaitlin, especially when him and Christine needed it most. We will be forever grateful to the Morales family who are not only neighbors but our extended family.

Steve was a fan of old western movies and loved the Chicago White Sox (win or lose). He found joy in the simpler things in life and loved his dog Apollo like his own child. He loved golfing with his brother-in-law Nick and friends in retirement, watching his Grandkids and great grand kids play sports, long talks with his grandsons about sports and always had a joke when the opportunity presented itself. Steve was an honest and open book, when in his presence you always knew where you stood.

All he needed was a diet pepsi, a few chocolate donuts, and his living room filled with his family and friends. Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
