Xing Ping Tan, 84, of Chicago, born in Guangdong, China, passed away on April 3, 2021; beloved wife of the late Rong Yang Tan; loving mother of Kelly (Andrew) Toy, Yu Ming (Yu Juan Wen) Tan, Ri Zhong (Ling Yee Yau) Tan and Jennifer (Vincent) Soung; cherished grandmother of Jonathan Toy, Joshua Toy, Samantha Soung, Candace Tan, Ethan Soung, Clement Tan; dear sister of the late Shi Liang Tan; fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.
Xing Ping Tan was hard working and caring. She had a great passion for life, always learning, helping and teaching others. Her love for traveling will never be forgotten; she left her footsteps at The Great Wall, Niagra Falls, Alaska Cruise, Las Vegas, New York and LA just to name a few. She obtained her Associates degree in Guangdong, China. After she immigrated to Chicago, she graduated from Culinary Training Program and obtained her ServSafe Food Manager License and was a chef at UIC Cafeteria for over 20 years. Xing Ping Tan was dedicated to not only her career but also taking care of family and others before herself was very important.
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 7, 2020 at Michael Coletta Sons Funeral Home and Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery
